Quintessence

One of the most common ‘witch marks’, or protection symbols from the Middle Ages and much further back in time, was the pentagram. Carved into wooden beams and stone lintels or door frames, it protected the inhabitants from malevolent spirits entering. But also it was extensively worn about the person as an amulet, the wearer believing it to guard them against evil forces. The five-pointed star represents a magical continuous line which confounds sinister demons, but also symbolizes the four elements and the quintessence, and the five wounds of Christ. This is a typical, primitive token on a pewter disc, representing a magical circle, with the symbol being reproduced from a Medieval wall carving, crudely cut into its surface. Packaging: Presented in a branded Lychgate green velvet pouch with an attached descriptive kraft hang tag. Packaged in a 4-inch square poly bag, sealed with a round Lychgate sticker.
